Hooray! You’re expecting your first baby. You’ve researched the
subject extensively, read the books, scoured the Internet and
relentlessly questioned friends and relatives who have already become
parents. You’ve watched new mothers with a critical eye and theorised
about “important” issues like potty training, breast feeding,
discipline, routine and reusable nappies. Is it possible that you’re
thoroughly prepared for the chaos about to descend upon your world??
Probably not.
Before I gave birth to my daughter Eloise, my husband Daz and I read
numerous books which told us all the important stuff like not to eat
brie and what kind of fruit our baby was the size of. But what about
the silly stuff that no one thinks is important but nearly every new
mother wishes someone had mentioned to them at some point?
That’s why I’ve written this book. I’m not expecting it to
completely prepare you for becoming a mum (impossible) and it’s
certainly not all encompassing (I’ll leave the technical bits to the
experts). What it is, is a collection of observations and suggestions
that may prevent you from worrying unnecessarily or wasting money. If
it reassures you a little, saves you some cash and makes you smile now
and then, it’ll have done what I intended it to do.
If you’ve found yourself asking “Why did no-one ever tell me
about…?” this is the book to buy for yourself and then for anyone you
know who is expecting their first baby to prevent them from having to
ask the same question.
